Contents and thematic lines

Throughout the course, students will develop a specific research project under the guidance of a professor.

The topic of the Master's Thesis (TFM) will be agreed upon between the tutor and the student. However, one of the main thematic lines proposed by the coordination —without discounting other initiatives— is the study of research topics linked to local centers and museums that are part of the UAB Artistic Heritage Campus. In this regard, the coordination will put interested students in touch with these institutions. On the morning of October 1, the II Heritage Campus Research Conference will take place, where the different museums and centers will present the research lines that can be developed in the TFMs.

Structure, length, and characteristics of the TFM

• a) The body of the work (text): A maximum length of 60 pages is recommended, as indicated by the Master's Thesis Protocol of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters. Depending on the type of research, the text may be slightly shorter or exceed this number. The bibliography, the documentary appendix (optional), and the illustrations with captions do not count toward this 60-page limit.
• b) The outline of the work: This will be prepared under the supervision of the tutor. Since it may vary depending on the topic, the following general guideline is established:
• Presentation: Explanation of the objectives and justification of the chosen methodology or study strategy.
• Core of the work: Organized into a series of logically and appropriately structured sections.
• Conclusions: Reflection on the results, the learning achieved, and the new questions raised.
• c) The table of contents: It must be placed at the beginning of the work.
• d) Numbering: Pages and photographs must be properly numbered (e.g., Fig. 1, Fig. 2), including those in the appendices.
• e) Captions: They must include the author, the title of the work, and the institution where it is located. If the work does not belong to any collection, the detailed source of the image must be indicated: name of the database, book (author and title), periodical publication (author, article title, publication title, issue, year, and page), or "photograph by the author" if it is their own.
• f) Quality of illustrations: They must be of sufficient size and quality to appreciate the details without straining the eyes, avoiding the "trading card" format. To avoid increasing printing costs, it is recommended to print the illustrations in black and white and attach a PDF copy of the TFM with the photographs in color.

Organization, tracking, and submission

• a) Choice of topic and tutor: By November 5 at the latest, the student must have interviewed their tutor and chosen the topic. Once defined, it must be formally notified to Professor J. Vidal.
• b) Preparation of the outline: The tutor will help define the topic, resolve doubts, finalize the study strategy, and review the outline.
• c) Work project: The evaluation of the Art, History, and Thought Module consists of the submission of the Work Project.

The project must contain:

• Presentation: Explanation of the objectives, the reasons justifying the choice of topic, and the questions or hypotheses formulated from the outset.
• First outline: Initial rough draft or reasoned scheme showing the aspects to be addressed. To prepare it, you will have the guidance of the tutors. This outline may be modified as the research progresses.
• Collection of sources: An initial list of the sources consulted or planned for the research. Depending on the topic, these can be bibliographical, archival, videographic, photographic, or interviews, among others.
• Planning: A detailed and precise timeline regarding the organization of the work from the beginning and the development of pending tasks until the completion of the TFM.
• Deadline for Project submission: February 4, 2027.
• Submission format: Two copies must be submitted (one for the module coordinator, Professor Montserrat Claveria, and another for the tutor) in the format to be determined.

Work tracking

Once the outline and strategy have been defined, the mandatory tutoring process begins. The tutor must be informed at all times of the progress of the research through regular interviews during the course (requested by email or during office hours).

• Minimum sessions: Students must complete a minimum of two tutoring sessions (face-to-face or virtual), of which the tutor will keep a written record through a minute/form.
• Lack of tracking: If a student stops meeting with the tutor during the second semester and submits the draft directly in the final weeks, the tutor may refuse to direct and supervise the work. In such cases, the work cannot be submitted.
• Second enrollment: To submit the work in subsequent calls (February or July-September), a new enrollment must be formalized and tutoring must be resumed.

Languages of writing

In addition to Catalan and Spanish, the work may be written in English, French, or Italian.
