Objectives
This subject applies the methodological tools needed to develop a rigorous nd innovative research in the history of science through the elaboration of an MA Dissertation Project.

Contents
In this subject, students will write a feasible MA Dissertation Project (3000 words maximum, with bibliography) under the supervision of a member of the Master's teaching staff. The Project will have to show that there is a solid and accessible documentation that allows the development of a historical research. It will consist in a state of the art; a justification of the chosen topic; the working hypothesis; the goals to be achieved; the structure; and a chronogram. Afterwards, in the subject "MA Dissertation", the Project will be developed under the supervision of the same persone, into a final MA Dissertation.

The MA Dissertation Project is elaborated through the setting and solving of a historiographical problem through problem-based learning. This subject consists in two sessions with the coordination and in historiographical supervised work by students, that will have a supervisor from the Master's teaching staff. In the first semester, or in the first weeks of the second semester, one of the topics suggested in the list of possible topics will be chosen, and the professor responsible for that proposal will be contacted to see whether they can supervise the MA Dissertation. Alternatively, topics not included in the list can also be proposed to the teaching staff. In any case, the approval by the supervisor will be needed. In the event that the supervisor is someone not included in the teaching staff, a member of the teaching staff will co-supervise the MA Dissertation as tutor.

The assessment focuses on the MA Dissertation Project. The supervisor will send to the coordination a mark and a brief reasoned report that will evaluate the process of elaboration of the Project, as well as the final result. The Project will also be assessed by the coordination of the subject both in its written version and its oral presentation. The final mark will result from the supervisor's report (50%) and the assessment by the coordination of the written text (40%) and the oral presentation (10%).
