Objectives
- Research and innovation in education for sustainability and consumer education are an opportunity to reflect and advance the design of curricula, skills training models and proposals.
- The module takes as a starting point for research and innovation in environmental education, consumer education and economic education, and various ways to address, through education, relationships between people and the environment and among their own people.
- We must encourage the formation of citizens able to meet the challenges requires a complex and globalized world, which manifests imbalances and inequalities in various scales. Visibilisation of sexism and inequalities, awareness-raising and creation of opinions.
- It is necessary to propose an education for global social justice, taking into account the Sustainable Development Goals. And it is necessary to make proposals for Education for the Future.

Introduction: Socio-environmental problems and a complex view of the environment
Area 1: Environmental Education/Sustainability Education and Consumer Education.

The training activity will be developed based on the following dynamics:

Continuous assessment (CA) for the Module takes place throughout the teaching period and is weighted at 70% for individual assessment (I) and 30% for group assessment (G). This is structured through four assessment activities, of varying types and distributed throughout the Module, as follows:
- Individual work and participation (10% of the CA grade). This is an assessment activity that requires ongoing work throughout the teaching period, based on specific tasks or participatory activities, with the aim of reflecting on and/or putting into practice the content of the Module. Tasks will be submitted: one week after the session requiring a practical task.
- Practical activities to address Area 1: Environmental Education/Education for Sustainability and Consumer Education (30% of the CA grade). This assessment activity consists of a set of practices of various types (critical analysis of articles, preparation of debates, etc.), which will be presented at the beginning of the Module and submitted in connection with the class session in which the content corresponding to Area 1 has been covered. Tasks will be submitted: one week after the session requiring a practical task.
- Practical activities to address Area 2: Education for Social Justice / Education for the Future (30% of the CA grade). This assessment activity consists of a set of practices of various types (critical analysis of articles, preparation of debates, etc.), which will be presented at the beginning of the Module and submitted in connection with the class session in which the content corresponding to Area 2 has been covered. Tasks will be submitted: one week after the session requiring a practical task.
- (G) Case study: identification, discussion, and reflective analysis of a socio-environmental problem. Design of an innovative educational action conducive to its resolution (30% of the CA grade). This is an assessment activity that requires the group to carry out the identification, discussion, and reflective analysis of a socio-environmental problem. Based on this starting point, the group is asked to design an innovative educational action favourable to its resolution, as well as a research proposal in the field. This work will be carried out throughout the Module, in coordination with teaching staff feedback, and will be submitted on the following dates: 21/05/2027 (submission and presentation of the draft) and 04/06/2027 (submission of the final version via the Virtual Campus).
The Module includes the option of single assessment (SA), which is weighted at 100% individual activity.
Students who choose this assessment method must submit the same activities as for continuous assessment and must defend them in an individual interview with the Module's teaching staff. The assessment percentages in this case are as follows:
- Practical activities to address Area 1: Environmental Education/Education for Sustainability and Consumer Education (30% of the SA grade).
- Practical activities to address Area 2: Education for Social Justice / Education for the Future (30% of the SA grade).
- Case study: identification, discussion, and reflective analysis of a socio-environmental problem. Design of an innovative educational action conducive to its resolution (30% of the SA grade).
- Final individual interview (10% of the SA grade).
All SA activities will be submitted on 21/05/2027, and the individual interview one week later (28/05/2027).
The characteristics and specific details of the development and submission of each assessment activity will be explained at the beginning of the Module. Assessment activities will receive feedback/grading from the teaching team within a period not exceeding 20 working days of the academic calendar. Students wishing to review their grade may do so in a specific assessment and review tutorial session arranged in advance by the teaching team.
The requirements and criteria required to pass continuous assessment and single assessment are as follows:
- Students must have passed each of the 4 assessment activities (following the resit process, if applicable), with a minimum grade of 5, in order for the average of the activity grades to be calculated and the final grade obtained.
- Students must have attended a minimum of 80% of the course sessions. Failure to meet this attendance requirement will result in the student being considered as not having taken the course. Documentation submitted in the case of absence serves only to explain the absence and does not, under any circumstances, exempt the student from the attendance requirement.
- Students must demonstrate good general communication skills, both oral and written, and a good command of the language of instruction specified in the course syllabus. Linguistic accuracy, writing quality, and formal presentation aspects will therefore be taken into account in all activities (individual and group). Students must be able to express themselves fluently and accurately and must demonstrate a high degree of comprehension of academic texts. An activity may be returned (not graded) or failed if the lecturer considers that it does not meet these requirements.
- Students must have complied with the transparency criteria regarding the use of AI*.
- Students must not have violated regulations regarding copying or plagiarism**.
In accordance with UAB academic regulations, the following criteria are required in order to access the resit process for the assessment covered by the course:
- All assessment activities for the course are eligible for resit, provided that the student has previously been assessed on the activity to be resat.
- However, in order to access the resit process, a minimum average grade of 3.5 for the course is required. If this is not the case, the student will not be eligible for the resit and the course will automatically be failed with a final grade of 3.5.
- Students must have met the criteria required for Module Assessment.
The maximum grade that can be obtained in the resit process is 5 out of 10 for the activity being resat. This grade will be averaged with the remaining assessment activity grades.
The resit process for Continuous and Single Assessment is scheduled for the following date: 18 June 2027.
NOT ASSESSABLE. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement and who have not been able to provide sufficient assessment evidence (having submitted a minimum of two-thirds of the required assessment activities) will be considered as not assessable. In this case, the student will not be eligible for the resit process.
SYNTHESIS TEST: The Module does not allow a Synthesis Test for students enrolling in the course for the second time.
* In this course, a restricted use of generative Artificial Intelligence (genAI) is permitted. The use of AI technologies is permitted exclusively for support tasks such as bibliographic searches or specific information, text correction, or translations. Students must clearly identify which parts have been generated using this technology, specify the tools used, and include a critical reflection on how these have influenced the process and final outcome of the activity. Lack of transparency regarding the use of AI in these assessable activities will be considered a breach of academic integrity and may result in a partial or total penalty on the activity grade, or more severe sanctions in serious cases.
** In accordance with UAB academic regulations, copying or plagiarism in any type of assessment activity constitutes an offence and will be penalised with a grade of 0 for the course, with no possibility of resit, whether it is an individual or group assignment (in the latter case, all group members will receive a grade of 0). If, during an individual in-class assignment, the lecturer believes that a student is attempting to copy, or if any document or device not authorised by the teaching staff is discovered, the student will be graded with a 0, with no resit option, and will therefore fail the course. A piece of work, activity, or exam will be considered "copied" when it reproduces all or a significant part of another classmate's work. A piece of work or activity will be considered "plagiarised" when part of an author's text is presented as one's own without citing the sources, regardless of whether the original sources are in paper or digital format.
