Objectives
The master's degree dissertation constitutes a compulsory module (15 ECTS) within the proposed master's degree studies. In general terms, students work individually, under the guidance of their assigned tutor, on a final project that may or may not be experimental in nature, depending on its stated aims, and which must deal with a topic that is directly related to transfusion medicine or cellular and tissue therapies
At the end of the module, students write a dissertation on the work carried out, which they then go on to present and defend orally, by video conference.
The examining board assesses students' ability to devise, implement and present a final project, basing their judgement on the dissertations submitted and how these are presented and defended orally.
Learning outcomes
- (CA11) Generate innovative and competitive proposals in the field of transfusion medicine, taking into account relevant ethical and social aspects.
- (CA12) Manage the scientific and technical knowledge acquired in order to develop it in accordance with the ethical commitment and the code of ethics, taking into account the gender perspective.
- (CA13) Communicate findings and knowledge, and the ultimate reasons behind them, to specialist and non-specialist audiences in a clear and unambiguous manner.
- (KA17) Explain, in the context of transfusion medicine research, the theoretical and practical aspects and the work methodology in different fields of study.
- (KA18) Identify rigorous bibliography adjusted to a research project in transfusion medicine.
- (SA17) Apply the specific management techniques of the area in which a project is framed in a blood bank.
- (SA18) Apply strategic or transfusion research projects, using appropriate resources and methodologies.

At the end of the module, students write a dissertation on the work carried out, which they then go on to present and defend orally, by video conference.
The primary language used during the course will be English. However, the use of Spanish will also be allowed. The course materials will also be in English.
Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Single evaluation is not available in this module.
The Master’s Thesis will be considered not assessable when the student does not submit the work within the established deadline or does not meet the mandatory submission and/or defence requirements set out in the course syllabus.
In this course the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is permitted as an integral part of the development of the work, provided that the final result reflects a significant contribution by the student in terms of analysis and personal reflection. Students must clearly identify which parts have been generated using this technology, specify the tools used, and include a critical reflection on how these tools have influenced both the process and the final outcome of the activity. A lack of transparency regarding the use of AI will be considered a breach of academic integrity and may result in a penalty to the activity grade or more serious sanctions in cases of particular severity.
