Teaching Methodology
The course is delivered through an active, student-centered, and participatory teaching methodology based on continuous learning, collaborative work, and the application of theoretical knowledge to real-world situations related to nursing services management. The methodology combines lectures, seminars, independent learning, and the progressive development of a group project, which serves as the guiding thread throughout the semester.
This methodological approach aims to facilitate the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application while fostering critical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, teamwork, and the development of competencies related to healthcare management, leadership, and quality improvement.
Lectures (ET)
The theoretical component will be delivered through interactive lectures supported by audiovisual resources, digital tools, and learning materials available on the Moodle virtual learning environment. These sessions will provide the conceptual foundations of the different course modules while incorporating activities such as critical reflection, class discussions, problem-solving, and the analysis of real-life scenarios. This approach encourages active student participation and strengthens the connection between theoretical concepts and professional nursing practice.
Seminars (ES)
Seminars will be conducted in small groups and will focus on the development of an applied group project and the analysis of case studies related to nursing services management. Through case-based learning, problem-solving activities, discussion, collaborative work, and decision-making exercises, students will apply the knowledge acquired during the lectures while developing competencies in clinical management, leadership, healthcare quality improvement, and professional communication.
Throughout the semester, each group will develop a Google Sites portfolio that will serve both as a collaborative digital portfolio and as the platform for constructing the group project. This digital environment will progressively document the activities completed, learning evidence, case studies, reflections, and resources developed by the students, facilitating continuous monitoring of the learning process and promoting the integration of the different course modules.
Independent Learning
Independent learning includes studying the theoretical content, consulting the recommended bibliography, preparing for seminars, completing the activities available on the Moodle virtual learning environment, and progressively developing both the group project and the Google Sites portfolio.
The Moodle virtual learning environment will serve as the primary platform for communication with students, the distribution of teaching materials, and the submission of continuous assessment activities. Google Sites, in turn, will function as the collaborative workspace for the development, organization, and final presentation of the group project carried out throughout the course.
ssionals not only understand essential concepts but also develop skills to lead care, implement improvements in healthcare quality, and manage healthcare resources effectively.

ASSESSMENT
Assessment in this course is based on continuous assessment and is designed to evaluate both the acquisition of knowledge and the development of competencies related to management, leadership, quality of care, collaborative work, professional communication, and the practical application of course content.
1. Objective Written Examination (30%)
This component accounts for 30% of the final grade.
It consists of a multiple-choice examination with four response options and one correct answer, assessing the knowledge acquired throughout the different course modules.
Incorrect answers are penalized according to the following formula:
Score = Correct answers − (Incorrect answers / (n − 1))
where n is the number of response options.
A minimum grade of 5 out of 10 is required to pass this assessment.
2. Applied Project and Continuous Assessment (70%)
This component represents 70% of the final grade and includes all learning activities carried out throughout the semester.
Assessment will be based on the following activities:
| ActivityWeight | |
| Group project development and oral presentation | 30% |
| Development of the Google Sites portfolio | 20% |
| Continuous assessment activities (Moodle activities, seminars, case studies, individual and group assignments, quizzes, debates, and reflective activities) | 20% |
The following aspects, among others, will be assessed:
- Scientific quality and academic rigor of the work.
- Ability to apply knowledge to nursing services management scenarios.
- Critical thinking and evidence-based justification of decisions.
- Leadership and teamwork skills.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Appropriate use of digital tools.
- Quality of the Google Sites portfolio as a collaborative digital portfolio.
- Active participation in continuous assessment activities.
The assessment of the group project may include an individual evaluation of each student's contribution, based on the evidence provided, the instructor's observations, and self-assessment and peer-assessment processes.
To pass this component, students must obtain:
- A minimum grade of 5 out of 10 in the group project and its oral presentation.
- A minimum grade of 5 out of 10 for the Google Sites portfolio.
- A minimum grade of 5 out of 10 in the overall continuous assessment activities.
The final grade for this component will only be calculated once the minimum passing grade has been achieved in each of its constituent parts.
SINGLE ASSESSMENT
Students opting for the single assessment system must demonstrate achievement of the course learning outcomes through the following assessment activities.
1. Objective Written Examination (30%)
Completion of a multiple-choice examination with four response options and one correct answer.
Incorrect answers are penalized according to the following formula:
Score = Correct answers − (Incorrect answers / (n − 1))
where n is the number of response options.
A minimum grade of 5 out of 10 is required to pass this assessment.
2. Applied Assignment (70%)
This component represents 70% of the final grade and aims to evaluate the student's ability to integrate, apply, and communicate the knowledge and competencies developed throughout the course.
Assessment will consist of:
| Activity | Weight |
| Individual written assignment based on a nursing services management project or applied case study | 40% |
| Oral presentation and defense of the assignment | 20% |
| Integrated case study involving analysis, decision-making, and evidence-based justification | 10% |
The written assignment must integrate content from the different course modules and demonstrate the student's ability to analyze a nursing services management scenario, identify problems, propose improvement strategies, and justify decisions based on scientific evidence and current regulations.
The oral presentation and defense will assess communication skills, critical argumentation, synthesis, and the ability to respond appropriately to questions posed by the teaching staff.
The integrated case study is intended to assess the student's ability to transfer acquired knowledge to a professional context while demonstrating competencies in leadership, clinical management, quality improvement, and decision-making.
To pass this component, students must obtain a minimum grade of 5 out of 10 in each of the three assessment activities.
Students wishing to undertake single assessment must submit the corresponding application within the deadlines established by the Faculty.
FINAL GRADE
The final course grade will be calculated by combining the grades obtained in the different assessment activities.
To pass the course, students must complete all compulsory assessment activities and obtain the minimum required grade in each assessment component. Failure to achieve the minimum grade in any compulsory component will result in failure of the course.
Students who do not pass the course through continuous assessment may take a resit examination. In accordance with Article 112 ter of the Assessment Regulations of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, students must previously have been assessed in activities representing at least two-thirds of the total course grade in order to be eligible for the resit.
Students who do not attend one or any of the scheduled assessment activities will receive a final grade of Not Assessable (NA).
