To achieve the established objectives and language learning and obtain specific results, this subject mainly involves theoretical and practical activities (comprehension, production, etc.).

The communicative methodology used includes:

• Individual or group exercises.
• Individual, pair and / or group works: oral presentations and written composition.
• Seminars on specific topics.
• Presentation and explanation of content by the teachers and master classes.

Course materials and other resources will be available on the Virtual Campus.

Annotation: within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Continuous assessment

Students have to perform 4 assessment activities in class:

• One oral presentation: 15% of the final mark.
• One individual test about vocabulary, oral and written comprehension: 30%.
• One individual test about grammar, vocabulary, and oral and written comprehension: 35%.
• Two individual writing: 20% of the final mark (10% + 10%).

The subject's final mark will be the sum of the five partial percentages (15% + 30% + 35% + 20% = 100%).

Assessment activity dates will be indicated by the lecturers in the first week of classes and on the information document of the subject, available on the Campus Virtual.

Students must attend assessment activities (on the date and at the time established) and under no circumstances will it be accepted to take them on remote or in a later date or time. The lecturers must be notified of any absences from assessment activities due to health reasons or unforeseen circumstances in advance, via email; in this case, any absence from assessment activities must be justified by means of official documents within a maximum of 15 days of the assessment activity date. In the case of an absence from assessment activities due to work reasons, the lecturers must be notified at least 15 days in advance; in this case, any absence from assessment activities must be justified by means of official documents issued by the company itself. In the case of an absence from assessment activities due any other reason not been unforeseen, the lecturers must be notified at least 15 days in advance; in this case, any absence from assessment activities must be justified by means of official documents within a maximum of 15 days of the assessment activity date. Students will lose the right to take the assessment activity if they arrive 30 minutes or more late.

It is forbidden the use of any automatic translation tool, or text creation tool or text rewriting tool in the assessment activities, including the oral presentation. Any misconduct or infringement that includes the use of any of these tools, or plagiarism or copying or impersonation, etc., detected by the lecturers, will be given a mark of zero for the entire assessment activity and for all students involved.

The use of cell phones in class is prohibited, except when requested or authorized by the lecturers for activities requiring them. The use of chat rooms, social media, or instant messaging during class is also prohibited.

The subject's lecturers will evaluate any exceptional cases or circumstances personally.

Following the subject and contacting its lecturers are solely the responsibility of each student. Any communication regarding this subject must be sent to the two lecturers.

The subject's schedule may vary depending on the group's pace of work and needs. The lecturers reserve the right to make any modifications they consider appropriate.

Continuous assessment

Assessment

Assessment is continuous. Students must provide evidence of their progress by completing various tasks and tests. Tasks and tests deadlines will be indicated in the course schedule on the first day of class. The information on assessment activities and their weighting is a guide. The subject's lecturer will provide full information when teaching begins.

Review

When publishing final marks prior to recording them on students' transcripts, the lecturer will provide written notification of a date and time for reviewing assessment activities. Students must arrange reviews in agreement with the lecturer.

Missed/failed assessment activities

Students may retake assessment activities they have failed or compensate for any they have missed, provided that those they have actually performed account for a minimum of 66.6% (two thirds) of the subject's final mark and that they have a weighted average mark of at least 3.5.

The lecturer will inform students of the procedure involved, in writing, when publishing final marks prior to recording them on transcripts. The lecturer may set one assignment per failed or missed assessment activity or a single assignment to cover a number of such activities. Under no circumstances may an assessment activity worth 100% of the final mark be retaken or compensated for. In case of retaking, maximum grade will be 5 (Pass).

Classification as "not assessable"

In the event of the assessment activities a student has performed accounting for just 25% or less of the subject's final mark, their work will be classified as "not assessable" on their transcript.

Misconduct in assessment activities

Any irregularity committed during an assessment (academic fraud, plagiarism, or misuse of AI, unless expressly authorized in the course syllabus) that could lead to a significant change in the grade will result in a grade of 0 for that assessment. If multiple irregularities occur during assessments for the same course, the final grade for that course will be 0. Furthermore, disciplinary proceedings may be initiated against any individual who commits any of these irregularities.

Use of AI

In this course, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is not permitted at any stage of the assessment activities. Any work that includes AI-generated content will be considered a breach of academic integrity and will be graded a 0, regardless of any disciplinary proceedings that may be initiated.

Single assessment

This subject may be assessed under the single assessment system in accordance with the terms established in the academic regulations of the UAB and the assessment criteria of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.

Students must make an online request within the period established by the faculty and send a copy to the teacher responsible for the subject, for the record.

Single assessment will be carried out in person on one day during week 16 or 17 of the semester. The Academic will publish the exact date and time on the faculty website.

On the day of the single assessment, teaching staff will ask the student for identification, which should be presented as a valid identification document with a recent photograph (student card, DNI/NIE or passport).

Single assessment activities
