The course is composed of the following activities:

1.      Lectures:

The student acquires the knowledge of the subject by attending the theoretical classes and complementing them with self-study of the exposed subjects. Although the theoretical classes are conceived as a unidirectional method of transmitting the teacher's knowledge to the student, it allows to establish direct questions for the students and create discussion.

2.      Classroom practices and Seminars:

Classroom practices and seminars are sessions with a dual purpose. It allows deeply work with more knowledge exposed in the lectures and possibility to discuss the results obtained in the requested works, in small groups.

3.      Tutorials:

The tutorials allow establishing a direct dialogue between student and teacher in which the orientation and motivation to self-study are emphasized.

4.      Clinical practices, necropsies and farm assistance:

The pedagogical proposal consists in creating the atmosphere and experience that is motivating and interesting for learning. The student will develop the ability to observe and to integrate their knowledge. The practical sessions serve to apply and remember the knowledge acquired through the theoretical classes, practices and seminars. In necropsy lectures, the correct and systematic autopsy of animal, sample collection and ability to issue relevant reports will be taught. The ambulatory clinics and farm assistance with the professor provides students with a real and direct vision of the livestock in the farms and the role of veterinarian in the  real environment.

5.      Self-study:

Theoretical contents are exposed through the resolution of problems or clinical cases (\"problem based learning\") that the student has to develop. The objectives and methodology that have to be achieved by students are presented to them. The achievement of the proposed objectives depends on ability of each student, who establishes their rhythm of learning in the resolution of problems and clinical cases.

The study material used for the subject will be available in the Virtual Campus. This platform will be also used as a mechanism for documents and information exchange between teachers and students.

1- Two written partial exams:

- Evaluation of theoretical and practical knowledge

- Four options multiple choice test, incorrectly answered questions subtract 0.33 each

- Overall exam score (75%) = 45% of the first partial and 30% of the second partial

- The minimal grade to pass them both is a 5. If a student's grade is below 5, they will need to take the remedial exam. For the final grade, the weighted average will be made according to the criteria set out above between the grades obtained in both exams. The average will not be calculated if one or both exams have a grade below 5. On the other hand, the average will be made if the grade in the make-up exam of the previously failed exam(s) is equal to or higher than 4,8. If the student takes the make-up exam after passing the first one, the student will be averaged with the highest grade obtained.

- Students who will be absent from the exam will be considered as not submitted.

2- Ambulatory clinics and intramural practices, continuous evaluation will be performed by

- Evaluation based on the student's attitude and participation

- Percentage of the qualification = 5%

- The absence not justified in the practices subtracts 0.1 from the final grade for each session.

- The absence not justified in the ambulatory clinics subtracts 0.5 from the final grade.

3- Evaluation of clinical cases and self-study:

- Evaluation of clinical problems resolution, both oral and written communication

- Percentage of the qualification = 20%

- If there is no presentation of self-study or clinical cases, add 0 in the calculation of the average grade of the work and the calculation of the percentage

NOTICE: this course does not have the possibility of Single Assessment (\"Avaluació Única\")

Any irregularity committed during an evaluative procedure (academic fraud, plagiarism or inadequate use of AI, except for authorised uses specifically detailed in the syllabus) that may entail a significant variation of the final score implies that this procedure will be scored with 0. If the syllabus specifies that obtaining a minimum score to pass the subject in the said evaluative procedure or if more than one irregularity is committed during the evaluation procedures, the final score of the subject will be 0. Regardless, a disciplinary process may be conducted incurring in any of these irregularities.
