Prerequisites
It is recommended:
- Identify the organizational components of the process of learning as well as the analysis of teaching resources, and organizational assessment process. These issues are part of the contents of first-year course called "Social Context and School Management" and "Education and Educational Contexts."
- Reflect on their own school experience.
- Be willing to work together.
- Participate actively in the preparation of classroom sessions and engage in reflective pedagogical debate.
Objectives
The course is designed to understand the "espai-temporal" resources in relation to the general organization of the school and they have consistency in the realization of some institutional approaches.
At the same time laid the foundations of professional development as a tool to accompany / the teacher / a throughout his professional career in a constantly changing reflection sustained in practice itself. All these elements are structured based on the needs of children.
Some emphasize that training objectives of the course are:
- Prepare proposals for intervention in space, in time and materials that consider the situation of school contexts and the people involved.
- Develop teaching skills.
- Use reflection on daily practice as a strategy for continuous improvement of the professional activity.
- Develop attitudes cooperative work with other professionals.
Learning outcomes
- Apply quality strategies to improve professional activity on the basis of scientific, pedagogical and social changes.
- On site, get to know schools and innovative projects and educational renovation as engines of change to improve the quality of schools.
- Using the design of the current curriculum to develop proposals for educational intervention which favour respect for the cognitive, motor, and affective uniqueness of learners, and taking into consideration the universal rights of individuals.
- Maintaining an attitude that considers lifelong learning as an element that is inherent to the profession.
- Produce, in a group, educational intervention and / or continuing training proposals in which collaborative reflection is a major component.
- Using information that is meaningful for the teaching profession in the development of the proposals made.
- Critically apply work strategies in the classroom and outside the classroom, both individually and collectively to improve teaching skills.
- Develop flexible educational intervention proposals respecting the characteristics of children and the context in which they are involved.
- Critically analyse educational practices from the perspective of stability and regularity of the components that make up and contribute to the development of children.
- Using teamwork to plan educational proposals, planning teaching and learning sequences which integrate the organisation of space, time and materials in different ways in the 0-3 age-group and the 3-6 age-group.
- Critically analyse educational practices that promote attention to the needs of children.
- Propose new methods or well-founded alternative solutions.
- Propose new ways to measure the success or failure of the implementation of innovative proposals or ideas.

The course methodology places students at the centre of the teaching and learning process, promoting an active role in the construction of knowledge and the development of the course-specific competences.
Teaching is organised through active learning methodologies based on experience, reflection and participation, fostering the collaborative construction of knowledge and its transfer to educational practice.
The methodology incorporates the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to ensure accessibility, flexibility and participation for all students. To this end, multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement are promoted throughout the learning process. In addition, a gender perspective is integrated into the analysis of educational spaces, materials and practices, encouraging the identification and review of potential biases and promoting more inclusive and equitable learning environments.
The sessions combine individual work, collaborative learning, case study analysis, observation of educational spaces, the design of educational proposals and guided reflection, with the aim of establishing a close connection between theoretical foundations and their application to educational practice. The methodology promotes students' active and continuous participation both during face-to-face sessions and through preparation and follow-up activities.
The course includes activities aimed at developing students' Digital Teaching Competence, with particular emphasis on the critical, responsible and ethical use of digital resources in educational practice. The use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) follows Model 2 – Restricted Use and is permitted only as a support tool for information retrieval, language revision or translation. Students must explicitly acknowledge its use and include a critical reflection on how it has been used.
The methodology is coherently aligned with the course content, learning activities and assessment evidence, fostering a progressive and integrated learning process focused on the achievement of the intended learning outcomes and competences. Assessment for this course will take place throughout the semester by means of activities carried out both in and outside the classroom. Attendance at seminars is compulsory (minimum attendance: 80%). A final grade of Not Assessable (NA) will only be awarded when the lack of assessment evidence makes it impossible to evaluate the student's achievement of the intended learning outcomes.
The assessment of students' learning will take into account their continuous and active participation in the preparation of the sessions, participation in classroom activities, the satisfactory completion of assignments, practical tasks and proposed activities (both individual and group-based), as well as their personal commitment to researching and producing information. All assessment activities must obtain a minimum mark of 4 out of 10 in order to be included in the calculation of the final course grade. To pass the course, the final grade must be 5 out of 10 or higher.
The assessment evidence consists of the following: the Popular Science Article (individual assignment); the Teaching Skills Learning Self-Assessment Report (individual assignment), consisting of an individual practical exercise to be completed in class on the last teaching day of the course; the group activities Educational Spaces, Educational Materials, and Learning Situation; and Participation in the Reflection and Learning Activities Conducted in Class (individual).
The group activities Educational Spaces, Educational Materials, and Learning Situation will be carried out during the corresponding seminar sessions. The Popular Science Article will be developed throughout the semester. During this period, classroom sessions will be devoted to supporting its development. The article will be presented orally to the seminar group during the final sessions of the course. The Teaching Skills Learning Self-Assessment Report, consisting of an individual practical exercise, will be completed in class on the last teaching day of the course.
Students who are absent when a group activity is carried out must complete the activity individually in order to be assessed and submit it via the Virtual Campus within one week.
No assessment activity submitted after the deadline will be accepted, except during the official resit period for activities eligible for reassessment. Failure to submit a compulsory assessment activity will result in a mark of 0 for that assessment. Students may only take part in the reassessment process for those activities that are eligible for reassessment.

The reassessment of the Popular Science Article and the Learning Situation must be submitted through the Virtual Campus on 18 January. The reassessment of the Teaching Skills Learning Self-Assessment Report will take place in person on 18 January at 6:00 p.m. in the classroom assigned to the course.
Feedback on all assessment activities will be provided within a maximum period of 20 working days, in accordance with current university regulations.
For all assessment activities (individual and group), linguistic accuracy, writing quality and formal presentation will be taken into account. Students are expected to express themselves fluently and accurately and to demonstrate a high level of comprehension of academic texts. An assessment task may be returned without being graded or may receive a failing mark if the teaching staff consider that it does not meet these minimum requirements. This criterion forms part of the language proficiency standards established by the Faculty.
Copying or plagiarism in any assessment activity constitutes a serious academic offence and will be penalised with a final course grade of 0, with no possibility of reassessment. An assignment, activity or examination will be considered copied when it reproduces all or part of another student's work. An assignment or activity will be considered plagiarised when a text written by another author is presented as one's own without proper acknowledgement of the source, regardless of the original format. Students repeating the course must contact the teaching staff during the first month of the semester to agree on an individual study plan. This course does not provide a comprehensive final assessment for students enrolled for a second time.
This course includes activities aimed at developing the Digital Teaching Competence.
Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI): Model 2 – Restricted Use. The use of generative AI is permitted only for support tasks, such as information searching, language revision or translation. Students must explicitly identify the parts of their work that have been generated with AI and include a critical reflection on its use. Failure to disclose the use of AI will be considered a breach of academic integrity and may result in partial or full penalties.
Single Assessment: This course does not provide for a single-assessment option.
