Contents

The internship, governed by the corresponding agreements, connects the student with a prestigious company, institution, or research centre with the aim of carrying out tasks directly related to the subjects taught in the master’s programme. The objective is for the student to gain first-hand knowledge of these activities and to acquire, through the assigned tasks, professional or research-related skills and competences. The student is introduced to processes and phases of tasks such as editorial work, linguistic proofreading in publishing and media environments, language planning, data collection and management for research purposes, bibliographic databases, management and cataloguing in libraries and archives, among others. The basic tasks assigned to the student (searching, entering and/or reviewing data, proofreading oral and written texts, maintaining and updating websites, etc.) are regulated by the agreement and carried out under the supervision of a tutor.

The teaching methodology of the Professional Internship module is based, on the one hand, on completing the internship at the assigned company or institution and, on the other hand, on writing a report that describes and assesses the tasks learned and put into practice (1.000 words). The student’s total commitment to the external internship is 125 hours, which includes 10 hours dedicated to preparing the report.

Annotation: within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

Assessment

Title Weight Hours ECTS Learning outcomes
Intership report 50% 0 0 KA36, SA39
Tutor report 50% 0 0 CA27, KA36, KA37, SA37, SA38, SA39

The evaluation of the internship will be based, on the one hand, on a report issued by the internship tutor appointed by the company or institution (50%) and, on the other hand, on the assessment of the report by the tutor(s) appointed by the university (50%).

At the time of each evaluative activity, the teaching staff will inform the students of the procedure and date for reviewing the grades.

The distinction grade (Matrícula d'Honor) will not be awarded due to its discretionary nature and the heterogeneity of this subject.

The Professional Internship subject cannot be retaken in the event that the student receives a “Fail” grade. The student will receive a “Not Assessable” grade if they have completed less than 30% of the assessment activities.

If the student commits any irregularity that could lead to a significant change in the grade of an assessment activity, that activity will be graded with a 0, regardless of any disciplinary action that may follow. If several irregularities occur in the assessment activities of the same subject, the final grade for that subject will be 0.

This subject does not provide for a singleassessment system.
