Prerequisites
To have passed all the theoretical subjects related to methodology.
Objectives
At the end of the course, the student must be able to carry out and write an empirical research paper (12 ECTS) and defend it orally.
Learning outcomes
- Write up the theoretical framework of the research question.
- Identify and apply the most appropriate design to answer the proposed research question.
- Select instruments for psychological assessment taking into account their psychometric properties and the objective of the assessment.
- Identify and apply appropriate assessment instrument to resolve the research question proposed.
- Analyse the data collected for the study and write up the results.
- Discuss the results of the research in the context of existing scientific production and analyse the implications.
- Search for information in scientific literature using appropriate channels and integrate such information to propose and contextualize a research topic.
- Use scientific terminology to argue the results of research in the context of scientific production, to understand and interact effectively with other professionals.
- Apply the outstanding ethical principles and act accordingly to the deontological code for the profession in the scientific research practic.
- Integrate knowledge and use it to make judgements in complex situations, with incomplete information, while keeping in mind social and ethical responsibilities.
- Communicate and justify conclusions clearly and unambiguously to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
- Solve problems in new or little-known situations within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to the field of study.
- Raise the objectives, research question and formulate hypotheses about a research in clinical psychology and/or health psychology.
Contents
Students will choose a topic from the list of professors involved in the program's research lines to develop their Master's Thesis.

At the beginning of the course, the student will be assigned a supervisor from among the Master's professors involved in related research teams.
This supervisor will be responsible for tutoring the student throughout the course (minimum 6 sessions).
The methodology will be fundamentally individual tutoring to direct and supervise the student's autonomous work.
The tutor must inform the Master's Coordinating Committee about the advisability of the work being defended.
The Committee will approve the defense taking into account the tutor's supervision report and its own evaluation.

To pass the TFM (12 ECTS), a single original empirical research paper will be carried out, which will be presented in writing and defended in person before a panel.
This TFM will be directed by a professor/tutor of the Master's degree. It will be necessary to certify a minimum of 6 agreed supervision sessions, both by the tutor and the student.
The TFM tutor will inform the Master's Degree Committee in writing of their agreement so that the student can submit the work. They will also provide their supervision endorsement, which is mandatory to be able to defend the TFM.
The Master's Degree Committee will approve the defense of the papers considering the tutor's written report and the evidence that the required supervision sessions have been carried out.
The TFM tutor must notify the module coordination, in the event that they finally consider that a previously planned work should not be read.
The student will submit a manuscript in research article format following the APA publication criteria (or, where applicable, the specific journal agreed upon with the tutor).
The evaluation of the TFM will be carried out in person, by a panel composed of three doctors affiliated with an academic institution after the oral defense of the same. The tutor may not be part of this panel.
The grade required to pass the module is 5.
If the defense is not passed, the student will have to re-enroll for the TFM in the following year.
This subject does NOT have a single evaluation.
