Prerequisites
Having passed the 2nd year Medical Psychology subject. course
The students will acquire the commitment to preserve the confidentiality and professional secrecy of the data they may have access to because of the learning in the care services. Also in maintaining an attitude of professional ethics in all their actions.
Objectives
The subject of Psychiatry that is taught to 5th year Pre-Graduate students has the context of training in the basic aspects of Psychiatry and Mental Health that every medical professional must know for the correct practice of medicine, regardless of the student's final specialty.
- Recognize, diagnose and guide the management of psychiatric disorders.
- Know the semiology and the technique of the psychopathological examination that allows to recognize the main psychiatric syndromes.
- Know the basics of the relationship between health and the environment.
- Know the biological, psychological and social foundations of personality disorders and pathological behaviour.
- Know the basics of psychological treatment.
- Know how to carry out a complete psychiatric anamnesis, centered on the patient and oriented to the different psychopathologies, interpreting their meaning.
- Know the main groups of drugs, doses, routes of administration and pharmacokinetics, their interactions and adverse effects, and prescription and pharmacovigilance.

- The content is developed in 71 hours of directed activities:
A: 35 theoretical classes of one hour each (35h).
B: 5 seminars (SEM type) of two hours each (10h): mandatory to pass the course.
C: 10 clinical care practices in humans (PCAh) of 2 hours each (20h): mandatory to pass the course.
D: 1 Advanced Clinical Simulation Practice (in humans) (PSCA) of 1 hour; mandatory to pass the course
E: 2 Clinical cases seminars of 2,5h each (SCC) (5h): mandatory to pass the course
- As independent work they consist of a total of 97 hours.

This subject does not provide for the single assessment system
Assessment activities (7h)
The evaluation of the subject is continuous. This subject does NOT provide for the single assessment system. The final synthesis test is part of the continuous assessment.
All the content presented in theoretical classes, seminars and simulation practices may be subject to evaluation.
At the end of the subject, an assessment will be made through a synthesis test of the theoretical part which will consist of multiple choice questions (PEM) and restricted questions (contingency 50% of the final mark of the subject).
The practices will be evaluated with a clinical case and an online depression course (in total continence 30% of the final grade of the subject). In the evaluation of the clinical case, a psychopathological, diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation of the same will be requested (with a weight of 20% of the final mark of the subject). On the other hand, as part of the internship assessment, students will have to take an online course on depression that will count for 10% of the subject's final grade. You must have taken and passed the online depression course to have access to the 30% of the final grade that the practices represent. The practices are mandatory to pass the course.
Seminaries, Practical Seminaries and Simulation are mandatory to pass the course, also.
There will be a continuous evaluation of the student's progress in the subject (total contingency 20% of the final mark) by solving clinical cases proposed throughout the course (a total of 4) through short questions throughout the course
Students who, after the evaluation process, have not passed the subject's theoretical evaluation exam (synthesis test of the theoretical part), will have the option of a final synthesis test in February. The theoretical exam must be passed with a minimum grade of 5 in order to be able to make an average with the rest of theassessment activities. The different scores of the continuous and practical assessment cannot be recovered in this final assessment in February.
Students who do not take both the theoretical and practical assessment tests will be considered \"Not Evaluable\", exhausting their rights to enroll in the subject

Differential learning of the clinical history in psychiatry in relation to the conventional medical clinical history. Introduction to psychopathological examination and syndromic diagnosis.
Topic 3. Psychiatric nosology
Identification of the major nosological groups. Bases of the classifications.
Topic 4. Organic mental disorders I
Organic Mental Disorder in the current classifications (DSM-5 and CIE-10). Identification of pictures of Delirium or confusional syndrome.
Topic 5. Organic mental disorders II and Cognitive Impairment
Identification of dementia patterns from a mental health perspective.
Topic 6. Schizophrenic disorders I
Concept and description. Epidemiology, exploration and diagnostic bases.

Seminars
The seminars will be adapted to the attendance reality of each of the Hospital Teaching Units (UDH), which will be explained on the first day of class of the subject, through the professors responsible for the subject at the UDH. There will be a total of 5 seminars of two hours each (SEM type):

Clinical Cases Seminars
5h of clinical cases seminars divided in two seminars of 2,5h each to work on essential aspects of clinical practice in mental health through clinical cases.
Clinical practices
20 hours of compulsory practice
The clinical practices have as their objective the approach and experience of the practice of psychiatry to the student, who, always accompanied by the teacher, will receive the appropriate explanations for a better understanding of the subject and the learning of skills . The internships are particularly useful for the student to learn and develop the skills of the doctor-patient interview in general and the psychiatric patient interview in particular to facilitate the realization of a psychopathological examination and a syndromic diagnosis. A rotation through different devices of psychiatric care or multimedia activities is proposed, in order to make contact with the different aspects of care in psychiatry and mental health. Thus, it is proposed that the student accompany the teacher in the course of clinical assistancein any of the following devices:
Acute Adult and/or Child Psychiatry Unit
Addictions Unit (admission and/or outpatient unit)
Mental Health Center for adults and/or children and young people
Psychiatry emergencies
Specific program of each of the Hospital Teaching Units (for example, affective disorders, interconsultation, neurodevelopmental disorders, suicide prevention program, child and adolescent psychiatry, etc.)
