Prerequisites
This course has no prerequisites.
The course will be taught taking into account the perspective of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Objectives
- Introduce the general principles of integrated security and the Integrated Security Master Plan, applying them to the coordination of business activities in construction works, public events and corporate events.
- Understand the specific regulatory framework governing civil protection, fire safety, occupational risk prevention, the coordination of business activities, health and safety in construction works, data protection and occupational safety at both national and international levels, as well as the regulations applicable to corporate, cultural and music events. Overall, the aim is to understand the regulatory framework governing the simultaneous presence of companies, workers and members of the public within the same area of activity.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the technical criteria and methodologies used to identify, analyse and assess the specific risks associated with industrial activities and publicly accessible venues or spaces.
- Analyse and develop an Integrated Security Master Plan for a specific activity, in accordance with the regulations in force in Catalonia and the relevant sector-specific regulations applicable in Spain.
- Acquire basic knowledge of the planning, organisation and management of security in specific areas of activity.
- Introduce students to the main risk analysis and risk calculation methodologies, as well as to integrated risk management models aimed at risk prevention, reduction and control.
- Develop customer-oriented and effective communication skills applied to security management, with particular emphasis on identifying needs, active listening, adapting messages to different stakeholders, managing conflicts and communicating information, instructions and recommendations clearly in both routine and emergency situations.
- Introduce students to the responsible, critical and efficient use of artificial intelligence tools in professional practice, particularly as a means of supporting information searches and analysis, risk identification and assessment, the preparation of technical documentation, security planning and communication, while taking into account their limitations and the requirements of confidentiality, data protection and human oversight.

Contents
This course has a specific manual structured into seven teaching units. Each unit will be delivered over an approximate period of two weeks.
In addition to the content included in the manual, each teaching unit will include one compulsory reading. Optional supplementary readings, audiovisual materials, documentaries, case studies and other resources related to the topics covered may also be proposed.
At the beginning of the course, students will be introduced to the general organisation of the subject, its objectives, teaching methodology, assessment system and the main content to be covered throughout the course.
Teaching Unit 1. Analysis of the venue and contextualisation of risk
Learning objectives
- Assess the suitability of a venue for holding an event.
- Analyse the territorial, social and functional characteristics of the surrounding area.
- Identify the factors that may affect the safety and security of the activity.

- Initial analysis of the proposed event venue.

Teaching methodology
As the course is delivered online, and with the aim of achieving the learning outcomes described in this guide, a methodology will be applied that combines the independent study of the course manual with online training sessions, the readings proposed for each unit and other supplementary resources, such as audiovisual and documentary materials.
Any questions that may arise during the course will preferably be addressed through the Moodle classroom forum and during the online sessions.
Practical cases involving controversies, problems or real-life situations related to the Integrated Security Master Plan (PDSI) may also be examined. These cases will be used to analyse the lessons learned and their implications for comprehensive security planning and management.
The teaching methodology will be based primarily on the flipped classroom model. Students will be required to prepare the specified materials independently (including the manual, documents, readings, videos and other resources) before the corresponding sessions. Face-to-face classes will be devoted to exploring the content in greater depth, resolving queries, analysing practical situations and promoting the application of the knowledge acquired.
The teaching staff will provide students with the information, digital resources and materials required to facilitate their progress through the course and the completion of the established assessment activities.
Gamification strategies may also be used, including educational games, simulations, interactive questions and group activities, to encourage student participation and facilitate understanding of the theoretical content.

Continuous assessment
The continuous assessment of the course will consist of the following components:
- First continuous assessment task (PAC 1): 35% of the final grade.
- Second continuous assessment task (PAC 2): 35% of the final grade.
- Theoretical examination: 30% of the final grade.
The PACs may be completed individually or in groups, depending on the instructions provided for each activity.
For the theoretical examination grade to be combined with the PAC grades, students must obtain a minimum mark of 3.5 out of 10 in the examination.
To pass the course, students must obtain a final weighted average of at least 5 out of 10.
Assessment of students enrolling for a second or subsequent time
Students who enrol in the course for a second or subsequent time must complete the scheduled assessment activities and examinations and submit the corresponding assignments by the deadlines indicated in the Moodle classroom.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, grades obtained in previous academic years will not be carried over automatically.
Reassessment
Students who do not pass the course may take the final reassessment examination provided that they meet the following requirements:
- They must have been assessed in activities representing at least two thirds of the total course grade.
- They must have obtained a final grade of at least 3.5 out of 10 before reassessment.
Students who have not been assessed in activities representing at least two thirds of the total course grade will receive a grade of “Not assessable” and will not be eligible to take the reassessment examination.
The reassessment examination will cover the full course content.
Students who pass the reassessment examination will receive a final course grade of 5 out of 10, regardless of the mark obtained in the reassessment examination.
Change of date for an assessment activity or examination
Students who need to request a change to the date of an assessment activity must complete the relevant form available in the EPSI Tutoring area on Moodle.
Once completed, the form must be submitted to the teaching staff responsible for the course and to the degree programme coordination team.
Submission of the request does not necessarily imply that the change will be accepted. Approval will be subject to the criteria and procedures established by the school.
Review of grades
At the time of each assessment activity, the teaching staff will inform students of the procedure and mechanisms for reviewing their grades.
“Not assessable” grade
Students will receive a grade of “Not assessable” if they have not been assessed in activities representing at least two thirds of the total course grade.
Failure to attend or submit a specific assessment activity will not necessarily result in a grade of “Not assessable”, provided that the activities completed reach the minimum percentage established.
Single assessment
This course does not provide for a single-assessment option.
Academic integrity
Without prejudice to any other disciplinary measures considered appropriate, and in accordance with the academic regulations in force, any irregularity committed by a student that may significantly affect the grade awarded for an assessment activity will result in a grade of 0 for that activity, irrespective of any disciplinary proceedings that may be initiated.
If several irregularities occur in assessment activities within the same course, the final course grade may be 0, in accordance with the applicable academic regulations.
Where, during the marking of an activity or assignment, there are reasonable grounds to believe that the content does not reflect the student’s authorship or knowledge, the teaching staff may require a personal interview or an additional assessment in order to verify authorship and the extent to which the learning outcomes have been achieved.
Use of artificial intelligence
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies is permitted in this course as an integral part of the development of an assignment, provided that the final result reflects a significant contribution by the student in terms of analysis and personal reflection.
Students must clearly identify which parts have been generated using this technology, specify the tools used and include a critical reflection on how these tools influenced both the process and the final outcome of the activity.
Failure to disclose the use of AI will be considered a breach of academic integrity and may result in a penalty to the grade awarded for the activity or more serious sanctions in particularly severe cases.
Changes due to unforeseen circumstances
If unforeseen circumstances prevent the normal delivery of the course, the teaching staff may adapt the teaching methodology and the assessment system in accordance with the criteria established by the school and after informing students accordingly.
