The subject contemplates three plenary sessions (one for presentation and two sessions Training oriented to the training in documentary exploration and methods) and direct monitoring by the supervisor assigned.

The supervision will include a minimum of 5 face-to-face tutorials that correspond to the evidence presented, unless otherwise agreed with the students. Based on the guidance of the supervisor, the student will have to develop and deliver, throughout of the process, various evidence of evaluation: project, evolution, final report presenting publicly the results of the work before a court designated by the Faculty. The virtual space of the subject will expand the information regarding the characteristics of the evidence to be delivered and specific information about each course will be found.

The TFG is a course that requires continuous monitoring and assessment through the TFE application. In order to be assessed and defend the TFG, it is necessary to have submitted the pieces of evidence within the established deadline and through the TFE application. To defend the work before a panel composed of 2 faculty professors, the student must pass evidence 3 (final report) with a grade of 5.

Supervision will qualitatively assess and provide an indicative grade in the TFE for evidence E1 (initial project with research question, objectives, bibliography and work schedule) and E2 (intermediate report), will review the final draft and will assess with a grade and comments the final submission (E3), which will represent 60% of the final grade. The TFG defense panel will assess the presentation of the work, the answers to questions, the extended abstract (E4) and the poster (E5), which will account for 40% of the grade. The format of evidences E1 and E2 is explained in the monitoring section and students will define them together with supervision.

Final product of the TFG

The final product of the TFG will consist of 3 documents in .pdf format that the student must upload separately to the TFE:

Ev. 3 Final report (6000 words) – 60% of the final grade assessed by supervision

Ev. 4 Extended abstract (800 words) – 10%, assessed by the faculty defense panel

Ev5 Poster - 5% assessed by the faculty defense panel

Final report (6000 words) – E3

Length: 6000 words. The following are not counted: cover page, acknowledgements, abstract, table of contents, bibliography or appendices.

It must include a title, an abstract of 300 words and between 3 and 5 keywords, all in Catalan, Spanish and English. They must be entered into the TFE on the day of submission of the final work.

Style:

Font type Times New Roman or similar, size 12, line spacing of 1.5.

Footnotes and quotations longer than 3 lines: same font, size 10.

Justified text, and the style must be consistent throughout the work. The language, format, font type or margins cannot be changed.

Bibliography cited in updated APA format or similar.

Evaluation criteria for E3: Final report (60%)

A. Quality of the research question: Clarity, relevance and adequacy. General and specific objectives.

B. Literature review, theoretical framework and hypotheses: Complete and updated review in relation to the state of the art and existing theoretical debates. Theoretical and conceptual framework. Well-founded hypotheses or specific research questions.

C. Methodology: Justification of the population and sample, explanation of the methods used in data construction and analysis (not applicable in theoretical works).

D. Results and conclusions:

Research work: The contents included are analyzed in depth; different dimensions of the object of study are considered; all stated objectives are addressed; theory and hypotheses are connected with empirical material; ability to construct and develop scientific arguments is demonstrated.

Theoretical work: Ability to conduct an in-depth review of the literature analyzed, identifying points of agreement and disagreement between authors, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of different theories; ability to develop solid scientific arguments.

Intervention work: Ability to design a proposal, program, project or intervention capable of addressing the identified challenges. It must include a timeline and resources.

E. References and bibliography: The work references and cites the bibliography coherently. The bibliography and documentation used are appropriate. It includes a title, a 500-word abstract and between 3 and 5 keywords in all three languages.

F. Work process: Ability to work autonomously and provide own reflections and analyses. Timeliness in the submission of evidence.

Extended abstract (800 words) – E4

The extended abstract is a document used to present the TFG “in public”. It is the reference document —together with the poster and the support of your presentation— that the panel will use to assess your work. Therefore, it must be a brief and concise document explaining the relevance, objectives, methodology and main results of the work. It is a clear and structured synthesis of the central aspects of your TFG. It must have a maximum length of 800 words, include selected bibliography —which must be cited within the body of the abstract and does not count towards the word limit— and be organized as follows:

Presentation of the problem

Approach to the object of study (objectives, questions and/or hypotheses)

Main theoretical and/or conceptual elements

Methodological design/planning (except in theoretical works)

Main results

Conclusion

These sections should serve as a guide; they may be adapted depending on the nature of the work and should not be included as separate sections (the executive abstract is not divided into subsections, but is a continuous text).

Defense before the panel (40% of the final grade)

This is a compulsory activity in order to pass the TFG. The student must give an 8–10 minute presentation summarizing their TFG and presenting its contents, following the structure of research, theoretical or intervention models. After each presentation, the committee will ask questions to the student, who will have a turn to answer. The student will use a visual support (slides, Prezi, Canva, image, video…), and is responsible for bringing it or knowing how to access it from the room’s laptop. The total time for each defense is 20 minutes. It is a public event; up to 4 people per candidate may attend. The student has the right to defend the TFG in Catalan, Spanish or English, according to their preference.

(In the event that the student justifies incompatibility in attending the TFG presentation due to being on an exchange during the established dates, this may be carried out by videoconference. To opt for this alternative to in-person presentation, the student must explicitly request it from the TFG Committee when responding to the GA form.)

Evaluation rubric of the panel

Public presentation (includes Ev. 4 Extended abstract and Ev. 5 Poster) – 40%

A. Clarity and precision of the extended abstract (10%)

Ability to write a well-written, clear executive abstract capable of synthetically reflecting the main elements of the work. Single text, 800 words, with bibliography, coherent structure and free of errors.

B. Adequacy of the content and format of the defense (15%)

Clarity and precision of the presentation. Ability to deliver a coherent and concise presentation, with appropriate timing and register. Content including the main elements of the work following research, theoretical or intervention models. Support through an appropriate presentation in .ptx format or similar.

C. Clarity and quality of responses to questions (10%)

Ability to respond appropriately within the allotted time to the panel’s questions, providing justification when necessary. Contribution of concepts, methodological reflections and concrete examples drawn from the work. The student’s own and original contribution to existing knowledge in the discipline is valued.

D. Poster (5%) Clarity, organization of relevant content according to the proposed TFG model (research, theoretical or intervention), with the corresponding sections according to the final report rubric.

Appropriate use of AI

The student signs a declaration of honesty upon enrolment and declares themselves the sole author of their TFG. It is important to consider that academic knowledge is based on the ability to verify the traceability of data and theoretical sources used. Therefore, the use of AI IS NOT CONSIDERED APPROPRIATE in the stages of theoretical construction, both for the state of the art as well as the theoretical framework and context, nor in the formulation of the research question, objectives, construction of the analytical model and hypotheses, diagnoses, data collection and construction, data interpretation and writing of results and conclusions.

IT IS CONSIDERED APPROPRIATE to overcome initial writer’s block and start writing, as a spell checker for texts, code correction and data analysis, and formal review of bibliographic references.

The student must clearly identify which parts have been generated with this technology, specify the tools used and include a critical reflection on how these have influenced the process and the final outcome of the activity.

Lack of transparency in the use of AI in this assessed activity will be considered a breach of academic honesty. Any irregularity in an assessment activity (academic fraud, plagiarism or misuse of AI, unless such use is expressly authorized in the course guide) that may lead to a significant variation in the grade will result in a mark of 0 for that activity. If the course guide stipulates that passing the course requires obtaining a minimum grade in this assessment activity or if multiple irregularities occur in assessments of the same course, the final grade for the course will be 0. Additionally, disciplinary proceedings may be initiated against the student who commits any of these irregularities. The teaching staff reserves the right to conduct oral interviews or an alternative test in order to verify the effective acquisition of knowledge and competences and, therefore, the validity of the assessment evidence submitted by the students.

Assessment system

This course/module does not include a single-assessment system. The student must get a minimal grade of 5 in ev3 Final Report to be able to defend their work. If the student has not been able to submit all assessment evidence through the application by the established date, this course will be recorded as not assessed.
