Internships can be carried out in either of the two semesters of the course or during the summer. In any case, the subject will involve a minimum of 300 hours of permanence.

Students can carry out internships in companies, foundations or service laboratories in the catalog available to the Department of Chemistry, companies that are looking for internship staff or companies with which students have made a first contact, as long as they are authorized by the teaching staff responsible for the subject. It will not be possible to carry out internships in research groups of public institutions, as they do not suit the objectives of the subject.

ENROLLMENT:

The enrolment of the subject is done once there is a pre-agreement agreed with a company and with the approval of the coordination of the subject.

PRELIMINARY NOTE: although the online enrolment in July, from 2026, allows you to enrol in External Internships (PE), from the coordination we advise against this option unless you are already 100% sure of a company where you can do the internship.

Students who wish to apply for a scholarship in the same academic year in which they will do the internship and the work will be evaluated, must speak to the coordination before the general enrollment period.

It is mandatory to take out the Complementary Insurance (Academic Management will inform the students and process it).

Students will be registered with the social security during the internship.

PROCEDURE:

During the months prior to the internship, students will have to attend a mandatory informative meeting (October or February) that will be convened in the teaching space of the subject.

Students will register to take the subject by filling out the application form published in moodle (PE Communication Space). At the time of registration, students must meet the requirements to take this subject (see prerequisites section).

The coordination will publish the list of students who meet the prerequisites.

The coordination of the subject will collect offers from companies and will make them available to students so that they can request the ones that interest them and pass the selection process established by the company.

At the same time, students are encouraged to look for a vacancy in other companies (especially if they want to do their internships in the summer).

Students will send their personal CV with a presentation message to the contact person of the companies they are interested in (taking into account their location and means of getting there), requesting to be able to do the curricular internship (300 hours in the company). Or it will follow the procedure established by the company, if it is another.

If the company grants you an interview, there will be agreed on the tasks to be carried out and the period and times of the internship. If the student is accepted by a company to do the internship, they will fill in, in collaboration with the company, the data requested in the "prior agreement form" (FPC, which can be found in the Communication Space of the subject) and send it to the coordination of the subject, which will approve the work plan and assign a tutorial by the UAB. If there is no agreement, students will continue to search for other offers or companies until they find one, keeping the subject coordinator informed.

In any case, it cannot be guaranteed that a student will be accepted by a company, as the decision on acceptance depends on the company.

Once the work plan has been approved and the tutoring has been assigned, the course coordinator will send the FPC file to the Academic Management so that it can draw up the agreement and proceed with the enrolment.

As a novelty from the 25-26 academic year, the agreement will be signed (students, company and dean of the Faculty) through the signature holder after receiving an email from the Academic Management.

It must be taken into account that the internship cannot start until the agreement is signed by the company and the enrolled students.

Once the internship has started (2 or 3 weeks), students must meet (in person or online) with the teaching staff of the Department of Chemistry who tutor them, and explain the details of their company and also the tasks planned to be carried out (Evidence 1 will be filled in, which will be delivered together with the report at the end of the internship).

Students who wish to carry out the internship during the summer must be evaluated in September.

Once the internship is finished, the students will communicate it to the coordination and present a report of the PE; Its delivery will be made to the task enabled in the teaching space of the subject. If the student has opted for the PE+TFG modality, they must also submit a report of their TFG that meets the requirements indicated in the moodle; Its delivery will also be made to the task enabled in this regard.

It is mandatory to consult the moodle of the subject to be aware of possible notices and meetings. In Moodle (communication space and/or classroom of the subject) you can find all the information and all the necessary forms.

The only valid email for any communication is the institutional one.

USE OF AI IN THE SUBJECT:

For this subject, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is allowed exclusively in support tasks, such as bibliographic or information searches, minor correction of texts or translations. The student will have to clearly identify which parts have been generated with this technology, specify the tools used and include a critical reflection on how they have influenced the process and the final result of the activity. The non-transparency of the use of AI in this assessable activity will be considered a lack of academic honesty and may lead to a partial or total penalty in the grade of the activity, or greater sanctions in cases of severity.

Annotation: within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

The evaluation of the subject of External Practices will be carried out from two elements: evaluation by the tutor of the student in the company (40% of the grade) and the evaluation of the memory by the tutor of the student in the UAB (60% of the grade)

The first will assess:

1. Previous training and knowledge.

2. Interest, motivation and availability.

3. The ability to learn.

4. The quality of the work developed.

5. Compliance.

The second will assess:

1. The scientific and technical correction of the work carried out.

2. The formal correction (writing, spelling, syntax, good organization, etc.), as well as the presentation.

To carry out the weighted average, a minimum score of 4 out of 10 points is required, both tutor in the company and the tutor in the UAB.

If the score of the tutor in the company is less than 4, the course will have a final grade of \"Fail\".

If the score of the tutor in the UAB is less than 4, the course will have a grade of \"Not evaluable\" and the student must rewrite the report and present it at the next call of the academic year

The tutor in the UAB may conduct an interview with the student in case he considers it necessary.

This course does not include the Single Evaluation modality.

Any irregularity committed during an assessment activity (academic fraud, plagiarism, or the improper use of AI—unless such use is expressly authorized in the course syllabus) that could lead to a significant change in the grade will result in that activity being graded as a 0. If the course syllabus stipulates that passing the subject requires a minimum grade in that specific assessment activity, or if multiple irregularities occur across assessment activities for the same subject, the final grade for the subject will be 0. Furthermore, disciplinary proceedings may be initiated against any student who commits such irregularities.
