Prerequisites
To be admitted, students must meet the requirements established in the Regulations of the Faculty of Biosciences on the Degree Final Project (TFG) that can be found on the Faculty website.
Objectives
The Degree Final Project (TFG) aims at the training objectives that are mentioned in the official memory of the degree and constitutes the culmination of the learning process where students will demonstrate the maturity acquired by them throughout the studies.

Contents
The TFG is an autonomous and individual work based on topics related to any of the subjects within the field of Genetics
The content of the TFG varies with and depends on the annually renewed offer that is made public during the month of July for each Degree. The public offer contains a summary description of the subject under each heading, whose content will be developed and defined by the student under the supervision of a tutor throughout the period of execution of the TFG.
Learning activities and methodology
| Title | Hours | ECTS | Learning outcomes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Study and elaboration of information | 50 | 2 | |
| Reading of texts and research of information | 50 | 2 | |
| Preparation of the report | 37.5 | 1.5 | |
| Turorials | 7.5 | 0.3 |
The management of the TFG is borne by the following figures:
The person in charge of the subject
The commission of the Faculty of the TFG, formed by those responsible for the TFG of the qualifications of the Faculty
The tutor professors
The evaluation commission of the TFG
The website of the Faculty of Biosciences https://www.uab.cat/web/estudiar/graus/graus/treball-de-fi-de-grau-1345708476852.html outlines the timing of the administrative and academic steps to follow. As for the latter:
Each student will be assigned a tutor, who will carry out a follow-up of the student's work through four tutorials: a first contact will be given to give the necessary instructions for the accomplishment of the work and to define the guideline Temporary tracking throughoutthe course. The other three sessions will be scheduled at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of the work.
When students enrolled in the TFG are part of a mobility program, they will look for the way to be able to do the tutorials in a non-contact way.
During the preparation of the work, the student will be careful to update a portfolio that will contain in an orderly manner all the collected and elaborated materials.
Depending on the type chosen, the student will prepare the appropriate materials in written, graphic or digital support
The common format of public presentation of the TFG in the Faculty of Biosciences will be that of a poster.
Assessment
Continuous assessment activities
| Title | Weight | Hours | ECTS | Learning outcomes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evaluation by the academic tutor | 50 | 4 | 0.16 | CM40, CM41, CM42, CM43, KM31, SM36, SM37, SM38 |
| Evaluation by a Comission of public defense | 50 | 1 | 0.04 | CM40, CM41, CM42, CM43, KM31, SM36, SM37, SM38 |
The evaluation of the TFG consists of two parts:
1. Assessment by the TFG Assessment Commission (weight: 65% of the note). The common format for public presentation of the TFG in the Faculty of Biosciences is that of a poster and will be evaluated by the TFG Assessment Committee of the degree, three of which will be present at the defense sessions. The delivery will be made following the instructions of the TFG regulations. In exceptional and justified situations, not contemplated in the evaluation regulations of the Faculty, the delay in the delivery of up to one week will entail the reduction of the note in 2 points. Deliveries will not be accepted later. The presentation will be done on a specific date for each degree, determined by the person in charge of thesubject, who will also have to specify the time in which the students must be present for their defense.
The Evaluation Committee will meet with the student in front of his poster in order to discuss his work. During the stipulated time for the debate, the student will have to have all the documentation that he has elaborated in the case that it was required to him by the commission, like the portfolio, the written memory, videos, opuscles or programs of computer which may be considered necessary in accordance with the tutor in some of the types.
2. Evaluation by the tutor (weight: 35% of the note). The tutor will evaluate the written memory and the materials that have been generated throughout the work, paying special attention to the evolution of the student's work and the fulfillment of the objectives set.
Both the Evaluation Committee and the academic tutor will train the person responsible for the subject for their evaluations and the person in charge of the subject will calculate the final grade based on the weight of each part.
The assessment requires the qualification of the tutor and the evaluation committee; Otherwise, the final grade will be \"non-evaluable\".
The person in charge of the course may select a maximum number of works equal to double the maximum number of honorable marks that can be awarded among those who have achieved the best marks. Selected students who wish to opt for the maximum grade will have to make an oral and public presentation and defense of the work on a specific date in front of the Evaluation Committee that will have the mission of awarding the Honorific marks.
For thestudents enrolled in the TFG that are part of a mobility program and that can not be present at the time of the public presentation of the posters, the evaluation committee will articulate mechanisms to be able to defend their work. However, it will only be in cases where you can justify your absence for academic reasons related to the teaching you are studying during the mobility program. These students, before the work deposit, must have documented justified why they can not be present on the date set for the public presentation. In addition, the student will have to make the person responsible for the subject all the necessary documentation for the evaluation before the public presentation date of the work set by the rest of the students.
For this subject, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is permitted exclusively in support tasks, such as bibliographic or information searches, text correction or translations, or others at the discretion of the teaching staff.
The student must clearly identify which parts have been generated with this technology, specify the tools used and include a critical reflection on how these have influenced the process and the final result of the activity. The lack of transparency in the use of AI in this evaluable activity will be considered a lack of academic honesty and may lead to a partial or total penalty in the grade of the activity, or greater sanctions in serious cases.
The commission of any irregularity in an assessment act (academic fraud, plagiarism or improper use of AI, unless this use is expressly authorized in the teaching guide), which may lead to a significant variation in the grade, means that this act will be graded with a 0. In the event that the teaching guide provides that to pass the subject it is an essential requirement to have obtained a minimum grade in this assessment act or that several irregularities occur in the assessment acts of the same subject, the final grade for this subject is 0. Apart from this, a disciplinary process may be initiated against the student who incurs any of these irregularities.
