A communicative methodology based on a set of techniques and actions will be used to facilitate language learning:

• Cooperative learning techniques
• Individual, pair, or group exercises
• Oral and written presentation of individual or group assignments
• Presentation of content delivered and explained by the lecturers
• Execution of tasks structured to achieve specific learning outcomes

Assessment activities' dates will be indicated by the lecturers in the first week. This information will also be available on the Campus Virtual.

Students must attend assessment activities (on the date and at the time established) and under no circumstances will it be accepted to take them remotely or at a later date or time. Lecturers must be notified of any absences from assessment activities due to health reasons or unforeseen circumstances in advance, via email.

Any absences from assessment activities must be justified by means of official documents within a maximum of 15 days of the assessment activity date. In the case of an absence from assessment activities due to work reasons, lecturers must be notified at least 15 days in advance and justified by means of official documents issued by the company itself. In the case of an absence from assessment activities due any other reason not been unforeseen, the lecturers must be notified at least 15 days in advance; in this case, any absence from assessment activities must be justified by means of official documents within a maximum of 15 days of the assessment activity date. Students will lose the right to take the assessment activity if they arrive 30 or more minutes late.

It is forbidden to use any automatic translation tool, or text creation tool or text rewriting tool in the assessment activities, including the oral presentation. Any misconduct or infringement that includes the use of any of these tools, or plagiarism or copying or impersonation, etc., detected by the lecturers, will be given a mark of zero for the entire assessment activity and for all students involved.

The use of cell phones in class is prohibited, except when requested or authorised by the lecturers for activities requiring them. The use of chat rooms, social media, or instant messaging during class is also prohibited.

The lecturers for the subject will evaluate any exceptional cases or circumstances individually.

Following the subject and contacting its lecturers are the sole responsibility of each student. Any communication regarding this subject must be sent to the two lecturers.

The subject's schedule may vary depending on the group's pace of work and needs. Lecturers reserve the right to make any modifications they consider appropriate.

Assessment

Continuous Assessment

Assessment is continuous throughout the subject. Students must provide evidence of their progress by completing various tasks and tests. Task and test deadlines will be indicated in the course schedule on the first day of class. The information on assessment activities and their weighting is a guide. The subject lecturer will provide full information when teaching begins.

Review

When publishing final grades prior to recording them on students' transcripts, the lecturer will provide written notification of a date and time for reviewing assessment activities. Students must arrange reviews in agreement with the lecturer.

Missed/failed assessment activities

Students may retake assessment activities they have failed or compensate for any they have missed, provided that those they have actually performed account for a minimum of 66.6% (two thirds) of the final grade for the subject and that they have a weighted average mark of at least 3.5. In case of retaking, the maximum grade will be 5 (Pass).

The lecturer will inform students in writing of the retake procedure involved when publishing final grades prior to recording them on transcripts. The lecturer may set one assignment per failed or missed assessment activity or a single assignment to cover a number of such activities. Under no circumstances may an assessment activity worth 100% of the final mark be retaken or compensated for. In the case of retake, the maximum grade will be 5 (Pass).

Classification as "not assessable"

In the event that the assessment activities a student has performed account for 25% or less of the final grade for the subject, their work will be classified as "not assessable" on their transcript.

Misconduct in assessment activities

Any irregularity committed during an assessment (academic fraud, plagiarism, or misuse of AI, unless expressly authorised in the course syllabus) that could lead to a significant change in the grade will result in a grade of 0 for that assessment. If multiple irregularities occur during assessments for the same course, the final grade for that course will be 0. Disciplinary proceedings may be initiated against any individual who commits any of these irregularities.

Use of AI

In this course, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is not permitted at any stage of the assessment activities. Any work that includes AI-generated content will be considered a breach of academic integrity and will be graded a 0, regardless of any disciplinary proceedings that may be initiated.

Single assessment

This subject may be assessed under the single assessment system in accordance with the terms established in the academic regulations of the UAB and the assessment criteria of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.

Students must make an online request within the period established by the faculty and send a copy to the lecturer responsible for the subject, for the record.

Single assessment will be carried out in person on one day during week 16 or 17 of the semester. The Academic Management Office will publish the exact date and time on the faculty website.

On the day of the single assessment, teaching staff will ask the student for identification, which should be a valid identification document with a recent photograph (student card, DNI/NIE or passport).

Single assessment activities

The final grade for the subject will be calculated according to the following percentages:

1. One writing production activity: 20% of the final grade.
2. One oral presentation on a cultural topic: 15% of the final grade.
3. One reading and listening comprehension test: 25% of the final grade.
4. One exam on grammar, vocabulary and cultural knowledge: 40% of the final grade.

The final grade for the subject will be the sum of the four partial percentages (20% + 15% + 25% + 40% = 100%).

Students will lose the right to take the assessment activity if they arrive 30 minutes or more late.
