Prerequisites
It is necessary to have studied and passed the Spanish language for translators and interpreters course 1.
Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide students with an average linguistic competence in Spanish that enables them to communicate in this language, incorporate Spanish as a study language into the faculty and prepare for translation.
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
Understand globally and in detail written texts of diverse typology with a certain complexity on general topics.
Produce written texts on personal and general topics with acceptable grammatical and spelling correction.
Understand oral texts of diverse extension on personal and general topics.
Produce oral texts on personal and general topics with an acceptable degree of correctness and fluency.
Learning outcomes
- Applying lexical, morphosyntactic, textual, rhetorical and linguistic variation related knowledge: Applying graphic, lexical, morphosyntactic and textual related knowledge.
- Implementing strategies in order to produce written texts of different fields and with specific communicative purposes: Applying strategies in order to produce written texts about personal and general topics.
- Producing written texts that are appropriate to their context and possess linguistic correctness: Producing appropriate written texts about personal and general topics that are appropriate to their context and possess linguistic correctness.
- Solving interferences between the working languages: Solving interferences between the working languages.

Contents
- Media knowledge of lexicon, morphosyntax, phonetics and spelling.
- Consolidation of the structures necessary to carry out communicative functions such as obtaining and giving information, describing, narrating, expressing tastes, etc.
- Comprehensive and detailed comprehension of written texts of diverse typology with a certain complexity on general topics (narrative, descriptive, expository, argumentative, instructive).
- Production, with acceptable grammatical and spelling correction, of written texts on personal and general topics.
- Understanding and production, with an acceptable degree of correctness and fluency, of oral texts of diverse extension on personal and general topics.

The classes are taught in Spanish. The approach of the classes is communicative; work is done by tasks, but learning is cpmbina with grammar exercises.
Apart from the class activities, in which the four skills (oral and written comprehension and oral and written expression) are worked on, at home the student will have to do homework exercises regularly (grammar exercises), review the vocabulary and structures learned in each lesson, write periodic essays, read and comment on a Catalan literary work.
The training activities are divided into activities directed by the teacher, activities supervised by the teacher and autonomous activities of the students, as detailed in the above box.

The evaluation is done through the essays that the students have to prepare, a commentary of a literary work and an exam (written and oral) at the end of the course (towards the end of January), with the possibility of recovery through a second test. Class participation will also be taken into account.
The information on the evaluation, the type of evaluation activity and its weight on the subject is for information purposes. The teaching staff responsible for the subject will specify it at the beginning of teaching.
Revision
At the time of delivering the final grade prior to the minutes, the teacher will communicate in writing a date and time of review. The review of the various evaluation activities will be agreed between the teaching staff and the students.
Retaking
Students who have submitted activities whose weight is equivalent to 66.6% (two thirds) or more of the final grade and who have obtained a weighted average grade of 3.5 or more will be able to access the recovery.
At the time of delivering the final grade prior to the minutes of the subject, the teacher will communicate in writing the recovery procedure. Teachers may propose a recovery activity for each failed or not submitted activity or may group several activities into one.
Consideration of “not evaluable”
A "non-evaluable" will be assigned when the assessment evidence provided by the student is equivalent to a maximum of one quarter of the total grade of the subject.
Irregularities in assessment activities
In case of irregularity (plagiarism, copying, impersonation, etc.) in an evaluation activity, the qualification of this evaluation activity will be 0. In the event of irregularities in various assessment activities, the final grade for the subject will be 0.
Evaluation activities in which irregularities have occurred (such as plagiarism, copying, impersonation) are excluded from recovery.
