Prerequisites
To be admitted, students must meet the requirements established in the Regulations of the Faculty of Biosciences on the Degree Final Project (TFG) that can be found at the Faculty website.
Objectives
The Degree Final Project (TFG) aims at the training objectives that are mentioned in the official memory of the degree and constitutes the culmination of the learning process where students will demonstrate the maturity acquired throughout the studies.

Contents
The Bachelor's Thesis (Final Degree Project, TFG) consists of an individual, independent project on a topic related to any area of Biochemistry.
The content of the TFG is determined by the list of available topics, which is updated annually and published in July. Each topic includes a brief description to provide initial guidance. Based on this proposal, students will develop and refine their project under the supervision of their assigned academic supervisor (tutor) throughout the TFG period.

The management of the Bachelor's Thesis (Final Degree Project, TFG) involves the following roles:
- the course coordinator;
- the Faculty Bachelor's Thesis Committee, composed of the coordinators of the Bachelor's Thesis for each degree programme within the Faculty;
- the academic supervisors (tutors);
- the Bachelor's Thesis Assessment Committee.
The Faculty of Biosciences website provides the timeline for the administrative procedures and academic activities related to the TFG.
Regarding the development of the project, each student will be assigned an academic supervisor (tutor), who will monitor the student's progress through four supervisory meetings. The first meeting will serve as an introductory session to provide general guidance on the TFG and to establish the supervision schedule. The remaining three meetings will take place at the beginning, midway through, and at the end of the project.
For students participating in a mobility programme, supervisory meetings may be conducted remotely.
Throughout the preparation of the TFG, students will maintain an up-to-date portfolio containing all the materials collected and produced during the project in an organised manner.
Depending on the type of TFG selected, the corresponding materials will be prepared in written, graphical or digital format.
The standard format for the public presentation of the TFG at the Faculty of Biosciences is a poster.
One of the methodologies that may be used to develop the Bachelor's Thesis is Challenge-Based Learning (CBL). This methodology starts from a real-world challenge proposed by a partner organisation or institution and requires teamwork to develop possible solutions. The challenge is structured into three phases: Engagement, Investigation and Prototyping, and Implementation and Evaluation.
The Bachelor's Thesis may also be carried out using the Service-Learning (SL) methodology. This approach combines academic learning with community service, enabling students to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their degree to address real needs identified by social, educational, healthcare or environmental organisations.

The assessment of the Bachelor's Thesis (Final Degree Project, TFG) consists of two components:
1. Assessment by the Bachelor's Thesis Assessment Committee (60% of the final grade)
The standard format for the public presentation of the TFG at the Faculty of Biosciences is a poster, which will be assessed by the TFG Assessment Committee. Three members of this committee will be present during the defence sessions.
The TFG must be submitted in accordance with the regulations governing the Bachelor's Thesis. In exceptional and duly justified circumstances not covered by the Faculty Assessment Regulations, a submission delay of up to one week will result in a 2-point deduction from the final grade. Submissions made after this period will not be accepted.
The public presentation will take place on the date established for each degree programme by the course coordinator, who will also inform students of the time at which they must be present for their defence.
The Assessment Committee will interview each student in front of their poster in order to discuss the work presented. During the interview, students must have available all supporting documentation produced during the project, should the committee request it, including the portfolio, the written thesis, videos, brochures or computer programs that, according to the academic supervisor, are considered necessary depending on the type of TFG.
2. Assessment by the academic supervisor (40% of the final grade)
The academic supervisor will assess the written thesis and all materials produced throughout the development of the TFG, paying particular attention to the student's progress and the extent to which the intended learning objectives have been achieved. The assessment rubrics are available on the Faculty of Biosciences website.
Both the Assessment Committee and the academic supervisor will submit their evaluations to the course coordinator, who will calculate the final grade according to the weighting assigned to each component.
All assessment activities are compulsory and inseparable. To pass the course, students must participate in and be assessed in all required activities (supervisory meetings, written thesis and poster). Otherwise, the final grade will be Not Assessable (NA).
Assessment requires both the academic supervisor's evaluation and the Assessment Committee's evaluation. If either of these is missing, the final grade will be Not Assessable (NA).
The Assessment Committee may select, at most, a number of TFG equivalent to twice the maximum number of Honours Distinctions that may be awarded, from among those receiving the highest grades. Selected students wishing to compete for an Honours Distinction must give a public oral presentation and defence of their work on a date determined by the Assessment Committee, which will decide the final awards.
When students participating in a mobility programme are unable to attend the public poster defence because of academic commitments related to their mobility programme, the Assessment Committee will establish the appropriate arrangements to ensure that they can be assessed.
To benefit from this exceptional measure, students must submit documentary evidence to the course coordinator, before the TFG submission deadline, explaining the reasons why they are unable to attend the public defence. They must also submit their TFG following the instructions published on the Faculty website and send all documentation related to the TFG to the Chair of the Assessment Committee before the scheduled date of the public presentations.
Artificial Intelligence
For this subject, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is permitted exclusively in support tasks, such as bibliographic or information searches, text correction or translations, or others at the discretion of the teaching staff.
The student must clearly identify whichparts have been generated with this technology, specify the tools used and include a critical reflection on how these have influenced the process and the final result of the activity. The lack of transparency in the use of AI in this evaluable activity will be considered a lack of academic honesty and may lead to a partial or total penalty in the grade of the activity, or greater sanctions in serious cases.
Academic misconduct
Any irregularity committed during an assessment activity (academic misconduct, plagiarism, or improper use of AI, unless such use is expressly authorized in the course syllabus) that may lead to a significant alteration of the grade will result in that activity being graded as 0. If the course syllabus stipulates that obtaining a minimum mark in this assessment is an essential requirement to pass the course, or if multiple irregularities occur in the assessment activities of the same course, the final grade for the course will be 0. Furthermore, disciplinary proceedings may be initiated against any student who incurs any of these irregularities.
