Methodology

Although cross-cutting topics are addressed in class and coherent learning about the interrelationship between culture and philosophy is promoted, classes are organized as sessions with their own structure, always seeking dialogue with the student.

The training activities will be of three types:

A- Directed

B- Supervised (these will have to be adapted, if necessary, in the most appropriate proportion, to online teaching through the various existing systems (Teams, narrated PowerPoints, videos, podcasts, etc.)

C- Autonomous.

1. The classes taught by the lecturer aim for the maximum participation of the entire class. In the event of a non-face-to-face or hybrid learning environment, the appropriate measures will be taken to ensure that students achieve all their learning outcomes.

2. The presentations will be designed in such a way as to enable the greatest possible critical and constructive interaction with the subject as a whole.

Various innovative teaching methodologies are proposed, such as holding a Congress on the subject at the end of the academic year, the use of gamification, and flipped classrooms.

For this course, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is permitted exclusively for support tasks, such as bibliographic or information searches, text correction, or translations. Students must clearly identify which parts have been generated using this technology, specify the tools used, and include a critical reflection on how these tools have influenced the process and the final outcome of the activity. A lack of transparency regarding the use of AI in this assessed activity will be considered a breach of academic integrity and may result in a partial or total penalty to the activity grade, or more severe sanctions in serious cases.

Assessment

The first section will be graded as follows:

1A. There will be an in-class exam worth 2 points (20% of the final grade).

The voluntary review of exams will begin on the first school day after the grades are published on the CV. Through a separate notice, the office hours and available dates will be announced.

The second block will be assessed according to the following criteria:

1A. A group project worth 4 points. 2 points (20% of the final grade) for the written component + 2 points (20% of the final grade) for the oral defense. Submission: second-to-last teaching week. Oral defense: last week of the course. If the oral defense cannot be held in person due to the lack of face-to-face attendance, it will be conducted virtually. The voluntary review of the project will begin on the first teaching day following the publication of grades on the Virtual Campus (CV). Through a separate notice, office hours and consultation dates will be announced.

2B. 3 points (1x3) (30% of the final grade): questions proposed and developed in class, or text commentaries and group discussions via forum. The voluntary review of these activities will begin on the first teaching day following the publication of grades on the CV. Through a separate notice, office hours and consultation dates will be announced.

3C. 1 point (10% of the grade) for attendance and proactive participation in the group or individual discussions generated by the course.

Both blocks must be passed in order to pass the subject. Otherwise, it will be necessary to take the resit examination.

The resit examination will be a comprehensive test covering all the material presented in class. To be eligible for the resit, students must have previously been assessed in a set of activities equivalent to at least two-thirds of the final grade. The minimum required average grade in the subject will be 3.5.

The project presentation will only be accepted if the tutorial pathway proposed by the instructor has been completed beforehand.

According to point 9 of article 266 of the Academic Regulations of the UAB, when it is considered that the student has not been able to provide sufficient assessment evidence, this subject must be graded as not assessable and at the same time the teaching guide must establish the criteria for assigning a not assessable grade.

A student is considered “not assessable” if they have not submitted assessment evidence (submissions or written tests) for at least 30% of the subject.

In the event that the student commits any irregularity that could lead to a significant variation in the grade of an assessment activity, that activity will be graded as 0, regardless of any disciplinary process that may be initiated. If several irregularities occur in the assessment activities of the same subject, the final grade for the subject will be 0.

If the tests cannot be carried out in person, their format will be adapted (without altering their weighting) to the possibilities offered by the UAB virtual tools. Assignments, activities, and class participation will be carried out through forums, wikis, and/or discussions of exercises via Teams, etc. The lecturer will ensure that students have access to such resources or will offer other alternatives that are within their reach.

UNIQUE ASSESSMENT: All students who wish to opt for the single assessment modality must take into account the following items: 1. There will be only one day to assess them – the exact date will be provided during the first week of the course. 2. On the designated day, the evidence or exercises requested during the course will be submitted (3 points = 30% of the final grade). 3. Likewise, an exam similar to the one proposed throughout the course will be carried out, including all the subject matter explained and provided in the form of notes, PPTX, lectures, etc. throughout the entire course (3 points = 30% of the grade). 4. Participation in the Congress will be possible under the same conditions as the rest of the class; if this modality is not accepted, it will be done individually (written paper, 2 points = 20% of the grade) and presented (orally, 20 min; 2 points = 20% of the grade) on the same day of the assessment – before or after the written test –, requiring the same tutoring process as the rest of the students.

The same criterion of non-assessable applies as in continuous assessment.

The regulations for accessing the make-up exam are the same as those governing continuous assessment.

The review of the final grade follows the same procedure as for continuous assessment.
