Prerequisites
Prerequisites: A good English reading comprehension is necessary to follow the course.
Objectives and Contextualisation
This is an optional Geography course. The field of study is global, although reference will also be made to local or regional case studies.
The aim is to provide elements of reflection and analysis that help to understand the complexity and diversity of the relationships between human beings and the natural and social environment, from the perspective of feminist geography.
-The acquisition of the basic knowledge necessary to understand the changes brought about by the processes of globalization;
-The consolidation of basic concepts of social geography learned in the course "Gender, spaces and daily life";
-The training to interrelate concepts and problems of the different thematic units of the program;
-The ability to use the tools and content learned in other subjects of the degree to interpret geographical contexts from a gender perspective.
Competences
- Formulate, argue and discuss your own and others' ideas in a respectful, critical and reasoned way.
- Incorporate the non-androcentric perspective in the work carried out.
- Interpret and explain the history of gender relations, the significance of differences and the processes of generating inequalities in a context of globalization.
- Interpret gender inequalities in relation to sexuality, class, ethnicity and territory based on the concepts and approaches of sociocultural analysis.
- Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
- Students must have and understand knowledge of an area of study built on the basis of general secondary education, and while it relies on some advanced textbooks it also includes some aspects coming from the forefront of its field of study.
Learning Outcomes
- Distinguish the gender relations found in the processes of social exchange in the territory.
- Interpret the events of the current world based on gender, class, social and cultural diversity.
- Manage the main indicators of geography to analyze the gender structure of society.
- Prepare an organized and correct speech, orally and in writing, in the corresponding language.
- Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
- Students must have and understand knowledge of an area of study built on the basis of general secondary education, and while it relies on some advanced textbooks it also includes some aspects coming from the forefront of its field of study.
- Use the specific technical vocabulary and own interpretation of the required disciplines.
Content
Course contents are divided into six thematic units, preceded by an introduction.

Annotation: Within the schedule set by the centre or degree programme, 15 minutes of one class will be reserved for students to evaluate their lecturers and their courses or modules through questionnaires.

This course will be evaluated on the following activities:
-march 2025: delivery exercice 1
-april 2025: delivery exercice 2
-may 2025: delivery exercice 3
-june 2025: global exam
-The whole semester: attendance, participation in debates, discussions of readings and oral presentations.
-The minimum global exam mark to average the rest of the marks must be equal to or higher than 5. In the re-evaluation period it will be possible to re-evaluate the failed exam to score up to 5.
-Late deliveries will not be accepted.
-Activities not presented will not be able to be re-evaluated and will score 0.
-Failed activities will not be re-evaluated. Its mark will be taken in account according to the percentages specified in Guia Docent.
-"Non-evaluable" applies only when no activity has been delivered. Delivering one or more activities implies losing the right to be "non-evaluable".
-The copying or plagiarism of material, both in the case of work and in the case of exams, constitute a crime that will be sanctioned with a 0 to the activity. In case of recidivism, the whole subject will have a 0 mark. A copy is a work that reproduces all or most of the work of another classmate. "Plagiarism" is the act of presenting all or part of a text by an author as one's own, without citing sources, whether on paper or in digital format.See UAB documentation on "plagiarism" at:
