Prerequisites
The UAB's own regulations, contained in article 5 of Annex I of the revised text approved by the Governing Council on July 7, 2022, establish two requirements for the student to be able to register for the Final Degree Project:
- Point 5 establishes that, in order to register for subjects in the fourth year of undergraduate studies, it is necessary to have passed at least all the subjects of the first year and a total of 120 ECTS from the first three years.
- Point 7 establishes that, in order to register for the Final Degree Project, it is necessary to have passed at least two-thirds of the total ECTS of the curriculum, that is, 160 ECTS.
The Scool of Economics and Business additionally recommends that only students who, by passing all the subjects for which they are registering, can complete their undergraduate studies during the same academic year, enrol in the Final Degree Project subject.
Objectives
According to Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality, the Final Degree Project must be oriented towards the evaluation of the knowledge, skills and abilities associated with the degree.
The Final Degree Project constitutes the culmination of the learning process of students of the Degree in [name of degree] and allows them to demonstrate that they are capable of integrating the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired throughout the degree by preparing an original, unpublished and individual academic work specific to their field of knowledge.
Learning outcomes
- Demonstrate the ability to analyse and summarise and to apply the skills and competencies acquired in the degree to a topic in the economic or business field.
- A capacity of oral and written communication in Catalan, Spanish and English, which allows them to summarise and present the work conducted both orally and in writing.
- Select and generate the information needed for each problem, analyse it and make decisions based on this information.
- Organise work, in terms of good time management and organisation and planning.
- Demonstrate initiative and work independently when required.
- Capacity to continue future learning independently, acquiring further knowledge and exploring new areas of knowledge.
- Demonstrate motivation regarding the quality of the work performed and sensitivity regarding the consequences on the environment and society.
Contents
The Final Degree Project must be original, unpublished, individual and of a theoretical and/or applied nature, and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired by the student throughout the undergraduate studies.
To carry out the Final Degree Project, the tutor will provide the necessary guidance on the structure of the work in accordance with the field of study.
In the applied-oriented projects, hypotheses based on a theoretical framework may be formulated and/or real cases or projects may be solved by applying the techniques and methodologies specific to the degree. In the theoretical-oriented projects, the student must carry out a critical review of the most relevant academic and/or professional literature on the chosen topic and provide their own and substantiated analysis of the issue under study.

The assignment and orientation of the Final Degree Project begins with an information session organized by the TFG coordination of the Faculty of Economics and Business, aimed at all students enrolled in this subject. This session will explain the assignment procedure for the projects, the activity calendar and the general instructions for the subject.
It is strongly recommended that the student follow and pass the course "Tools and Resources for carrying out the TFG", on the date indicated in the calendar of activities related to the TFG. The techniques explained are very useful for carrying out a quality Final Degree Project.
The student will develop the Final Degree Project individually. In case of preference to develop a topic different from the assigned one, he or she may present an alternative proposal to the tutor and request their consent to modify the initial assignment. If the tutor agrees, the student will be able to focus his or her Final Degree Project on the agreed alternative topic. This change must be registered in the Final Thesis (TFE) tool, in the section corresponding to the first meeting. Under no circumstances may the student change the assigned tutor.
The student will have a minimum of four individualized tutorials with the tutor, with the following objectives:
• First meeting with the assigned tutor: definition and initial approach of the TFG in terms of objectives, methodology, sources of information, expected added value, structure, etc.
• Second meeting: monitoring of progress in the preparation of the TFG according to the planning carried out in the first meeting.
• Third meeting: assessment of the interim delivery of the TFG and monitoring of additional progress that has occurred since the interim delivery.
• Fourth meeting: public oral defense of the final version of the TFG before the tutor.
After each meeting, the student will enter a summary of the aspects discussed and the agreed work guidelines into the Final Thesis (TFE) tool. The tutor will be able to make comments and validate the corresponding milestone. The student's progress will be monitored using this tool.
Regarding the format of the document, the student will follow the instructions established in the Regulations for Final Thesis of the Faculty of Economics and Business and the guidelines provided by the tutor.
When preparing the Final Thesis, the student must respect the principles of academic integrity established in the Regulations for Final Thesis of the Faculty of Economics and Business. In particular, the use of results obtained with artificial intelligence tools without mentioning their use and informing the tutor will be considered a situation of academic malpractice.
The Final Degree Project may be written in Catalan, Spanish or English. Students of the degrees in Business Administration in English and Economics in English must write it in English.
15 minutes of a class will be reserved, within the calendar established by the center or degree, for students to complete the evaluation surveys of the teaching performance of the faculty and the subject.

The Final Project will receive a grade from the tutor. This grade will be based on the assessment of the written work, which will represent 80% of the tutor's grade, and on the public oral defense of the final version of the work before the tutor, which will represent the remaining 20%.
The assessment of the written work will be the sum of the grade of the intermediate submission, with a weight of 15%, and the final report, with a weight of 65%. The tutor will evaluate each of these pieces of evidence in accordance with the criteria established in the evaluation rubric provided for in the Regulations for Final Projects of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
The grade awarded by the tutor will be the one that will initially appear in the course report and in the Final Projects tool (TFE). In accordance with the UAB's academic regulations, final grades are recorded with one decimal place. When the grade obtained is 6.95 or higher, it will be recorded as 7.0. In these cases, the student will be able to participate, voluntarily, in the Poster Conference, with the aim of opting for a higher grade by presenting and defending the poster before the Evaluation Committee.
Participation in the Poster Conference is voluntary. Students who, despite being able to participate, decide not to do so, will maintain the final grade of 7.0. In the event that the student participates in the Poster Conference, the grade awarded by the Evaluation Committee will constitute the final grade for the subject.
Irregularities in assessment acts
Without prejudice to other disciplinary measures that may be adopted, and in accordance with the current academic regulations of the UAB, in the event that the student commits any irregularity that may lead to a significant variation in the grade of an assessment act, this assessment act will be graded with a 0 (zero), regardless of the disciplinary process that may be initiated. In the event that several irregularities occur in the assessment acts of the same subject, the final grade will be 0 (zero).
In the case of the Final Degree Project, the student must respect the principles of academic integrity established in the Regulations for Final Degree Projects of the Faculty of Economics and Business, especially with regard to the situations of malpractice defined in its section 7.3, which include plagiarism, falsification of data or the use of results obtained with artificial intelligence tools without mentioning their use and informing the tutor.
Bibliography
The tutor will provide the student with the methodological guidelines and bibliographical references that he or she considers appropriate for the development of the Final Degree Project.
The bibliography used must be appropriate to the topic of the Final Degree Project. With the advice of the tutor, it is expected to include, whenever relevant, specialized books, academic articles, reports and professional publications in the field of study, databases, institutional documentation and other relevant sources of information, as well as electronic sources consulted during the preparation of the work.

To prepare the Final Degree Project, the student may use the software that is most appropriate to the nature and objectives of the work, in accordance with the guidance of the tutor.
